Final Project Pitch: Kinetic Typography

I plan to combine my love for type, fonts and storytelling to create a kinetic typography video that visually teaches about different fonts and what you can do with them.

Kinetic typography is commonly used in lyric videos; a few examples can be seen below.

I will take one of two approaches in creating the images and animations, either doing it all strictly frame by frame in Photoshop, or delving into Adobe After Effects and tinkering around. The pros to using After Effects will be that it will give it more of the professional feel and more capabilities and options for animation. However, I’ve never used it before and am unsure if I will have enough time during the end-of-the-semester haul to really dive into it. Photoshop will remain my backup plan for now, since it would actually be more tedious to do everything frame-by-frame in Photoshop than it could be to learn an entirely new program and its tools.
